REMOTE MEASUREMENT OF ORIENTATION AND POSITION OF UNMANNED ARIEL VEHICLE AND OTHER OBJECTS BY A CONTOUR IMAGE USING THE DISCRETE FOURIER TRANSFORM |

This paper describes the approaches of remote measurement of orientation angles and position of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and other objects in 3D space using a ground machine vision system. The base of proposed methods is the calculation of discrete Fourier transform descriptors of apparent contour followed by comparing to a reference model. As a reference are used the data of DFT or two-dimensional DFT. Shown the theoretical possibility of determining the orientation angles of an object by using its DFT of contour. Presented the experimental use results of the orientation measurement methods using a digital video camera and designed software.
