System for Quality Assessment of Target Information
in Earth Remote Sensing |

Quality assessment tasks for target information from high spatial resolution Earth remote sensing
systems are addressed, focusing on the detection of intra-frame distortions and the assessment of image
information content. To detect intra-frame distortions, an algorithm based on mutual relative shifts
of adjacent image rows has been developed. To assess image information content, a trained k-means
algorithm and a neural network-based algorithm for cloud and blooming segmentation are considered,
with the neural network algorithm proving to be the most suitable. Design principles for remote sensing
data catalog are discussed.
