Rotary Type Extraction Device |

Introduction: The idea of using slingshots or other mechanisms to launch spacecraft into space was
proposed in the 1920s. However, due to technical problems that seemed insurmountable at the time, it was
not developed further. However, modern advances in astronautics, such as the use of ultra-high-strength
materials, miniaturization of spacecraft instruments and components, and the need to address challenges
such as asteroid mitigation, small spacecraft launches, orbital constellation deployments, and space object
inspections, necessitate reconsidering this idea and developing new space technologies. These include
rotary launch devices (RLDs), which impart the required rotational motion to their target systems relative
to specific axes of the devices to perform their intended tasks. Research Objective: Develop new payload
delivery systems to a given point in space. Methods: Systems analysis methods were used to achieve this
objective. Results: The main types of RLDs were identified, and their composition and method of application
were described. Practical signifi cance: the devices proposed in the article make it possible to expand the
range of orbital-based vehicles with technical simplicity and insignificant mass-dimensional characteristics,
capable of reliably solving the problems of launching spacecraft and their constellations of various purposes,
various types of payloads into specified orbits with low energy consumption and without impact on structural
elements and payload.
Keywords: space, rotational launch devices (RTLD), space objects, space technologies.
