Functional Autonomy of the Intelligent Control
System of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle |

The approaches to ensuring the autonomy of the construction of control systems for intelligent unmanned
objects analyzed. The necessary and sufficient conditions for autonomy are adaptability to the environment,
learning strategies for behavior in problematic environments, and self-sufficiency of functioning proposed.
The definition, criteria, and indicators of the concept of "functional autonomy" introduced, and seven main
types of its provision briefly described.
The presentation carried out on the example of an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle with the target
function of monitoring the terrain with detection, recognition, and identification of objects of interest,
possessing a technical vision system, trained "on precedents" in control strategies in complex environments
with the ability to restore operability through redundancy.
