Investigation of the Influence of the Thermal
State of a Liquid Rocket Engine Combustion
Chamber on its Service Life |

A methodology has been developed to assess the influence of design features of the cooling channel of a
liquid rocket engine (LRE) combustion chamber on its durability. It is shown that the combustion chamber
wall being in a state of plane stress during operation leads to the progressive development of cracks in its
structure. Practical recommendations for increasing the service life of the chamber at the stages of design,
manufacturing, and operation of the LRE are formulated.
Keywords: Liquid rocket engine, combustion chamber, stress-strain state, plasticity, combustion wall, thermal protection
coating.
