CubeSat Stabilization System Tuning
Via Genetic Algorithm During Reaction
Wheels Acceleration Mode |

The paper considers the problem of CubeSat stabilization system tuning using optimization procedures
for the transient processes of the reaction wheels acceleration mode. For this purpose, an evolutionary
optimization method is used - a genetic algorithm, which allows one to fi nd a solution in problems with
several local extrema and a strong nonlinear dependence of the cost function on the tuning parameters.
A mathematical model of a stabilization system based on reaction wheels and a magnetic discharging
system is presented, along with the formulation of an optimization problem for tuning the stabilization
system. As part of the computational experiment, a one-time procedure for tuning the stabilization system
using a genetic algorithm was carried out. The results show the fundamental applicability of this approach
and the necessity for additional research of the infl uence of randomization in a genetic algorithm on the
solution of the problem under consideration.
