ESTIMATING CONTRASTIVE RADIANT INTENSITY OF AERIAL OBJECTS FOR GROUND-BASED TELEVISION EQUIPMENT |

This paper offers a methodological approach and an appropriate mathematical model to obtain an efficient estimate of contrastive radiant intensity of aerial objects in visible and near infrared spectral wavebands upon their detection via ground-based television equipment at daytime against clear sky. The main analytic relationships necessary to perform the estimation have been drawn; they take into consideration direct and diffuse solar radiation refl ected by diffuse spherical surface imitating the object, and use the term «weather coeffi cient», for the defi nition of which detailed reference data exist. At the same time, this model makes it possible to obtain en estimate of skylight radiance, which determines the peak threshold sensitivity, in the direction of object sighting and in the same spectral waveband. A practical example of using the suggested model has been given.
