AN APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF THE IN FORMATIVENESS OF POLARIZATION FEATURES IN THE PROBLEM OF RECOGNITION OF TYPICAL LONG-RANGE RADAR TARGETS

The article is devoted to the study of informative features obtained using polarimetric radars in solving problems of recognition of typical targets of longrange radar. Under the information content of signs refers to the internal informativity (autoinformator) – the most accurate representation of the original data for a selected set of features. The article shows that in the case of two-channel radar, circular polarization on radiation is preferable. Numerical simulation of the scattering characteristics showed that the ellipticity angle of the received signal in the case of a two-channel radar emitting on a circular polarization is a sufficiently informative parameter in the recognition of typical targets from the data of a two-channel radar. The degree of polarization anisotropy is the most informative (in the sense of internal informativeness) parameter for distinguishing typical longrange radar targets when modeling target scattering characteristics. The remaining polarimetric parameters can be informative when distinguishing some classes of targets (with complex and simple geometry, with the presence and absence of axial symmetry), provided that the errors of their measurement are small enough compared to their average value.
