COGNITIVE CAPACITY OF OBJECTS IN TELEVISION IMAGES
T.Yu. Sagdullaev, Yu.S. Sagdullaev

The article discusses issues related to the features of visual perception and recognition of optical and TV images, including information recognition levels – detection, discrimination and identification of objects. It is shown that the observation of objects whose size corresponds to two elements of the TV image can correspond to the level of recognition – the detection of an object with a probability of 50 %, according to Johnson's criterion. An assessment of the range of detection, discrimination and identification of objects on TV images is presented. The recognition ability of objects by the range of their detection, discrimination and identification is shown, and dependencies between the distance and the number of elements (lines) corresponding to this are also shown. The estimation of the maximum resolved range for different linear sizes and levels of recognition of objects is given. The dependence of the required focal length of the TV camera lens on the range of observation of objects for the recognition levels under consideration, as well as for different linear sizes of objects and the probability of their recognition, is determined. With the given parameters of TV cameras, for information recognition levels – detection, discrimination and identification of various classes of objects with an increase in probability from P = 0,5 to probability P = 0,8, the range of TV observation can be reduced by 1,5 times. Expressions are presented for determining the maximum possibilities of the TV observation range of objects that provide for the detection, discrimination and identification of objects without or taking into account the influence of transparency of the remote environment, as well as other interfering factors.
Keywords: spectrozonal television, detection, discrimination and identification of objects, recognition recognition, range of TV observation of objects.
