On-board self-diagnostic multiplex computation system

There is proposed an on-board computation system (OBCS) providing serviceabil-ity in hard conditions for using in the aerospace industry. High performance reli-ability, fault tolerance, radiation resistance of on-board computing systems with small dimensions, weight, and power consumption are provided by dual-channel structure with a cold reserve. In operation, OBCS is held by means of self-diagnosis of the active channel of the processor and the control switch for the device is redundancy, which is implemented as a chip on the base matrix crystals with high reliability and radiation hardness. To reduce the loss of productivity the self-test is carried out by the timer interrupt with a definite period. The criteria for a channel efficiency comparison of diagnostic task solution result (similar to the standard one) known a priori as well as successful pass of the minimum tests of the access for the memory, input-output devices and slave modules. The self-diagnosis is organized in such a way that switching to the reserve is provided not only in case of detecting the system failures, but also when the diagnostic devices fail. The device also allows multiple redundant switching from channel to channel in case of multiple failures due to noise or radiation exposure. To reduce the productivity losses as well as the risk of control loss due to the switching to the reserve it is advisable to store the intermediate calculation results in dedicated RAMs. Inter-module exchange busses in redundant channels are independent of each other. This provides both improved reliability and allows connection of more modules compared to the structures having a common bus. OBCS design is based on using a feed-through connectors allowing to provide connection reliability and structural integrity within minimum dimensions. The proposed on-board computation system is based on domestic radiation-resistant components.
