Possibilities of increasing angle sensors accuracy on the basis of rotary transformers
Shkuratov A.V. Skvornyuk S.P.

Range of application for rotating transformers as gauges of angles is essentially limited both as a range of measurement for angles and as requirements to accuracy of their measurement. Even in linear rotating high-class transformers of accuracy the maximum error of transformation of 0,1 % is only within angles 0…60 provided. Essentially to solve the given problems and to eliminate existing restrictions presumes the many-stage gauge of angle consisting of several rotating transformers, positioned on the axis. Thus the rotor of the gauge of each step is rigidly bound to a casing of the subsequent step and has possibility to turn concerning a casing of its step on the angle within the limit of which it is possible to receive demanded values of accuracy of measurement. At consecutive and concordant incorporation of target windings of all steps of the gauge the signal on a yield will be proportional to the turn angle of a rotor of the first stage concerning the casing of the last step. For enriching linearity of the target characteristic of such gauge rotors of rotating transformers can be connected to casings of their steps by springs. It presumes rotors of transformers to turn concerning casings not in turn after the turn to a confining emphasis of one of the steps and is simultaneous but on smaller angles. Thus both accuracy of angle measurement and linearity of the target characteristic in a gauged range of angles will increase. The quantity of steps of the gauge will be defined by the demanded accuracy of measurement for angles and their range.
Key words: the gauge, turn angle, accuracy of measurement, the target characteristic, the rotating transformer.
