Ways to increase the range
of onboard laser ranging systems
of space vehicles with using corner reflectors

The paper considers ways to increase the range of onboard laser ranging systems (LLS) for controlling the rendezvous and docking of advanced space vehicles with using corner reflectors. Accomplished comparison of the characteristics of LLS with the characteristics of radio systems used on board manned and unmanned spacecraft, the mathematical modeling using the program «MITRA» and «MATLAB». Consider the problems of laser safety, the presumptive detection of passive spacecraft, choice of laser sources and various aspects of using corner reflectors. Found the parameters of the LLS when working on blocks and a single corner reflectors for providing measurement range from 400 km to 700 km, which can be used to control rendezvous and docking of spacecraft in lunar orbit with LLS in the absence of external target designation
