False alarm rate estimate when integrating ultraviolet and infrared systems designed
to detect high-temperature objects

The paper presents the average false alarm rate value in various background-and-target situations when integrating ultraviolet locators of attacking missiles and in-frared laser beam pointing systems and performing a joint analysis of their signals. Methods for estimating the average false alarm rate of the complex are introduced. Influence of internal noise and various external clutters, natural and anthropogenic, on noise immunity of complex and separately ultraviolet locators and infrared pointing systems is studied. The obtained results helped find out some sources of the most frequent false alarms. The received outcomes can be allowed and used by target selection algorithms design, various background-and-target scenes mathematical modeling, optical-electronic complexes of countermeasure to attacking missiles projection and these complexes efficiency estimate.
