The development of the IGBT-invertor
for power supply system of a stand for experimental research of durability of the samples of aircraft construction materials

New hypersonic aircrafts require new high-temperature composite and ceramic-based construction materials. It is important to test these new construction materials at real flight conditions: with uneven one-sided programmed heating and pulse heating and stressing with tensile, compressing, and bending forces. The article describes the tech-nical solution and the results of the assembling of the pulse arc lamps electric power sup-ply network at the experimental stand. These arc lamps use the prolonged impulse mode at the transition from thyristor power regulators to the elements of the power electronics such as IGBT-invertors with PWM power control. The article also discusses the specifics of the working characteristics of arc lamps and the problems of the use of IGBT-invertors with arc lamps for power control. The main difficulty is the selection of the parameters of the snubber protective networks, specifically the inductance necessary for the lighting up an arc lamp and for sustaining the assisting arc mode within the acceptable amount of the inductive voltage surge at the terminals of the IGBT-modules.
