Aerospace Instrument-Making Annotation << Back PROPOSAL FOR ASSESSING THE SPREAD OF COMPUTER VIRUSES IN A LOCAL AREA NETWORK A.S. Belov, M.M. Dobryshyn, D.E. Shugurov The existing approaches to ensuring the protection of local computer networks from the destructive influence of computer viruses are currently reduced to the definition of organizational rules for the use of personal computers, as well as the use of various anti-virus tools. Based on statistical data and information published in open sources about high-profile information security events associated with the use of malicious software, such approaches are not fully effective. Insufficient effiiency is due to the fact that the organizational rules are not sufficiently justified, and the use of full settings of anti-virus tools significantly complicate the use of local computer network resources, or require additional computing power. To eliminate these difficulties, a proposal has been developed that allows us to justify the requirements for the composition and characteristics of the anti-virus tools used on the basis of the results of simulation modeling.
