ABOUT THE HISTORY OF CREATION OF THE FIRST RADAR STATIONS AND THEIR APPLICATION IN AVIATION AND SPACE RESEARCH |

Some achievements of Russian scientists in the fi eld of radar, which are widely used in aviation technology and space research, are discussed. The contribution of scientific schools (radiolocation groups) of D.A. Rozhansky and Yu.B. Kobzarev into forming and development of impulse radiolocation in our country is considered. The prime experiments on the usage of the impulse method of radiolocation were started under the direction of D.A. Rozhansky. His follower Yu.B. Kobzarev with colleagues worked out the first radar station «Redut» for the far detection of airplanes. Subsequently Yu.B. Kobzarev and his disciples created other locators, offered the principles of coherent radiolocation technics, the theory of optimal processing of radiolocation signals, laid the foundation of distant sounding. The achievements of research group of V.A. Kotel’nikov which was at the outset of planetary radiolocation are described.
