ABOUT INFORMATIVITY OF TELEVISION IMAGES OF VARIOUS SPECTRUM SECTIONS

The article considers the approach and issues related to the possible assessment of the information content of television (TV) images obtained in various spectral sections (zones) of registration of the radiant fl ux, including ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectral regions. The informative value of multi-spectral TV images is understood as the total amount of distinguishing information that a consumer can receive from the spectral-energy, spatial and additional features of objects when they are observed in one image or in several different-spectral images in comparison with one of them. In terms of the amount of general distinguishing information obtained in different spectral images, there can be two characteristic situations in which, for daytime, it is necessary to prioritize TV images in the HI region of the spectrum, and for nighttime, give priority to the thermal images of the IR region of the spectrum. Attraction of additional spectral sections (zones) of registration of the radiant flux will increase the overall information content of the generated multi-spectral TV images. An assessment of the possible information content of multispectral images showed that with a small number of spectral sections (zones) of registration of the radiant flux, it can increase on average by 1,5…4 times. For the case when there is a spectral portion (zone) of registration during the formation of different-spectrum TV images, in which the maximum possible number of objects from their possible total total number differs from other sections (zones) of registration, with a large number of objects, the maximum information content of the generated multi-spectral TV images can increase twice. For the case when for each additional spectral section (zone) involved, the number of newly distinguished objects in their images obeys the sequence of numbers of a decreasing variational series, when using three additional spectral regions (zones) of recording, the maximum information content of the generated multi-spectral TV images increases by 2,5 times. For the case when in each spectral section (zone) of registration of the radiant fl ux, the number of newly distinguishable new objects is equal to each other, when using the additional three spectral sections (zones) of registration, the maximum information content of the generated different spectral TV images can increase by 4 times. For the latter case, the maximum possible information content of multispectral TV images can be achieved by obtaining the same number of distinguishable new objects in each of the generated images and will be actually directly proportional to the selected number of spectral sections (zones) of registration of the radiant flux, provided that they are significantly increased.
