UNIFICATION OF BASIC TECHNICAL PARAMETERS FOR TELEVISION AND THERMAL IMAGING DEVICES |

This paper proposes and substantiates the composition of basic technical parameters
for television cameras which is conceptually similar to that for thermal imaging devices and which includes, particularly, the noise equivalent reflectance difference and the effective value of the camera instantaneous field of view. It allows to use general techniques to determine the range of the particular equipment that functions jointly with the operator-interpreter and, appropriately, get the comparable
estimates of the detection and recognition ranges of objects, located on the natural inhomogeneous background, by their images. Thus it provides the optimal integration of television and thermal imaging channels of air- or ground-based
electro-optical systems. The paper presents relevant calculated relations of introduced
parameters to conventional ones of television cameras, defining their threshold sensitivity and resolution.
