SELF-DIAGNOSABLE THREE-CHANNEL AIRBORNE COMPUTING SYSTEM WITH OVERRIDING BACKUP |

Mission-critical computing systems are mainly used in such fields where the system malfunction may cause severe economic damage or health or life risk for people, e.g. in aeronautical and space engineering, nuclear industry. Therefore such sys-tems must be failsafe and possess high reliability indexes and high authenticity of the computations being realized. They should also survive under severe environ-ment (environmental, mechanical, under electromagnetic noise, ionizing radiation effect). In order to provide simultaneously fail-safety, high reliability characteris-tics, radiation hardness and computing results validity (decreasing the probability of sending false command) when the power consumption is low, the idea of design-ing self-diagnosable three-channel computing system is being developed. A short review of structural redundancy methods used when designing computing systems is presented. There is proposed a structure of self-diagnosable three-channel airborne computing system with overriding backup in respect to the use of the modern do-mestic component basis. It is proposed to provide active channel self-diagnostics, generating OK signal. OK signal is controlled by backing up device. Channel selec-tion signal adapter is considered.
