MEASUREMENT OF BACKSCATTERING PARAMETERS OF RING LASER GYRO ON DITHER IN WORKING MODE |

Lock-in of modes of ring laser gyro (RLG) on dither is one of the most important sources of error in its operation. Backscattering of counterrunning waves is consid-ered one of the main reasons for lock-in of modes. The method of measurement of backscattering parameters of ring laser gyro on dither used in strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) in real-time operation with application of the adaptive Kalman filter has been proposed. The method is based on the analysis of measuring the Sagnac phase with analog-to-digital converter and comparator while passing RLG through cusps. Application of the method makes it possible to give current es-timate of RLG error by numerical integration of the Sagnac phase sine and cosine. The method can be used for RLG on-line diagnosis as well as for reducing the lock-in width by means of perimeter stabilizer control.
